Lozeraptor 46: 2 Sets of Recommendations for your randomised listening curiosity

I would suggest that we, as a society of an apparently intelligent species, are no further forward in terms of social progress and injustices than we were 30 and more years ago. Listening to 2Pac’s 2Pacalypse Now and the self titled album by Rage Against The Machine both released in 1991 and 1992 respectively, contain politically and socially astute lyrics that can be echoed in 2022. Horrible state of affairs.
That said, there is a lot of good in the world and a lot of good people in the world, this collective outweighs the bad. It’s still very hard to watch or listen to programmes about current affairs.
There is enough commentary on past and present music that relates to the state of affairs in the world, then and now. Is it required? Yes. I learnt about Che Guevara thanks to Rage Against The Machine.
Music is an answer to a multitude of problems. Here’s a little playlist:
Rob Dougan — Clubbed To Death
Rise Against — Saviour
Iron Maiden — Rainmaker
Jack Off Jill — Fear Of Dying
The Magic Numbers — Forever Lost
Kings Of Leon — California Waiting
Kiss — Rock and Roll All Nite
Johnny Cash — Sam Hall
Johnny Cash — I Hung My Head
Cabell Calloway- Everybody Eats When They Come To My House
I made a conscious effort end of last year to avoid listening to and watching the news. I don’t want to hear it (just like Minor Threat said). I need positivity. I need metaphorical sunshine (Cover Me In Sunshine by Pink & Willow Sage Hart is a beautifully innocent song) and blue skies and white fluffy clouds (Groove Armada — Blue Skies and The Orb — Little Fluffy Clouds). Metaphorical because I cannot be doing with heat of any sort. Give me temperatures under 14 degrees celsius and cool air. “I’m only happy when it rains” say Garbage, I can’t agree with that BUT, I agree with the sentiment.
Ten more tracks to get me through the evening? Yeah sure:
Otis Redding — The Dock Of The Bay
Sam Cooke — A Change Is Gonna Come
Shirley Bassey — Diamonds Are Forever
Sly Fox — Let’s Go All The Way
Pantera — Psycho Holiday
Metallica — Whiplash
Green Day — Welcome To Paradise
Smashing Pumpkins — Today
The Smiths — Frankly, Mr Shankly
Ramones — Sheena Is A Punk Rocker
I’ll catch ya next time for the next collection of random words.
